She continues to head Thembekile Mandela Foundation as its founder and CEO, an organisation set to continue building Nelson Mandela's legacy. As the first grandchild of Nelson Mandela, she saw it as her obligation to honour her father who was Nelson Mandela's firstborn from his first wife, Evelyn Mase.

Pumza Sixishe gained management and networking skills while working in sales, marketing, operations and global logistics for companies in South Africa and the U.S.
She worked for marketing and real estate companies in the US. She oversaw global logistics accounts for Dimension Data, interacting with stakeholders in North and South America, Europe, MEA and Asia daily. She studied Business at Utah Valley University and Ensign College in UT.
She also did a course with the prestigious Milan based Bocconi University studying Management of Fashion & Luxury Brands. The skills gained here were utilised when she worked with luxury brands in marketing.
